High Wycombe
Secretary: new secretary required - next meeting: TBA
High Wycombe branch was founded in 2002 by Gerry and Margaret Sharp after Gerry’s successful transplant. They felt there was no support for renal patients and their families in High Wycombe and the surrounding areas as the previous branch had closed.
The branch has a social meeting once a month where it is good to talk and share experiences in a relaxed atmosphere, offering support to patients and their families. People find it very therapeutic to talk, discuss and share problems because they know what it is like to be diagnosed with renal failure. This helps patients to cope when dealing with dialysis and kidney transplants, people are always willing to listen and offer ideas to help.
The branch aims to meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 12.00 for lunch at the Crown Inn, Church Rd, Penn, HP10 8NY
Retirement
Margaret has now decided to retire as secretary after 20 years of supporting SCKPA and the High Wycombe branch. We thank her for her contributions and hard work on behalf of the charity, and wish her all the best as she now has family commitments.
If anyone is willing to act as branch secretary, please contact our chairman, José.
At our branch lunch on 3rd May we sadly said good bye to Arthur and Sylvia Edwards. After living in Princes Risborough for many years they are moving to Dorset to be nearer family.
They joined the branch soon after it started and Arthur became our treasurer. They very rarely missed a monthly meal or general meeting and have been great supporters of the SCKPA.
Arthur started the Wycombe Lottery about fifteen years ago and to-date it has raised over £13,000 for SCKPA funds. He will continue to run the lottery when they move to Dorset. His wealth of knowledge and experience will be sadly missed by everyone in the branch but we send all good wishes to them for an exciting new chapter in their life.
