Spring Meeting 2020
15th March at the Oxford Belfry, Milton Common
The Spring meeting was held at the Oxford Belfry, preceded by a three course buffet lunch in the hotel.
Unfortunately numbers were much lower than expected due to the coronavirus pandemic with members either in isolation due to infection or not wanting to take any risks by being in public places.
In the absence of our chair Richard Van Roon who was due to fly to Australia the next day, the meeting was taken by our vice-chair Maggie Pratt-Heaton. The following reports were read out, click the link to view:
Chair – Richard Van Roon
Treasurer – Bob Price
NKF report – Richard Van Roon
New renal ward update – Martin Wood
In recognition of her contribution as a founder member, with Gerry her husband, of the High Wycombe branch, as a committee member and branch secretary for nearly twenty years, Margaret Sharp was presented with large bowl of indoor plants by Maggie Pratt-Heaton.
The raffle was organised by the Stoke Mandeville branch and included a set of kitchen dishes, a pair of candlestick holders, a set of sizzling plates and a ‘coronavirus survival kit’ won by Margaret Sharp.
Our speaker Mike Davis from NKF was unable to attend through illness so Pam Pitcher gave a short presentation on Coronaviruses. Pam studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge and worked as a research immunologist for a large pharmaceutical company for many years.
The next meeting, the summer lunch that is scheduled for Sunday 7th June, has been cancelled.
Everyone was requested to keep up-to-date with news on the virus and to use the links on the Home page for the latest information from Oxford, NHS and the Government.
